Kristyn Harrington Joins SVHC Board of Trustees

BENNINGTON, VT—October 29, 2019—Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC) is pleased to welcome Kristyn Harrington to its Board of Trustees.

“Strong leadership is one of the key components to a successful health system,” said Tommy Harmon, the board chair. “Kristyn has the qualities we need to continue Southwestern Vermont Health Care’s success and fulfill its mission to provide exceptional care.”

Kristyn D. Harrington is the owner of KDH Counseling PLLC, which provides mental health and substance abuse evaluations and treatment. For nearly 20 years, she worked in various positions within the Mount Anthony Union School District in Bennington, including as a school-based clinician, a clinical coordinator, and the assistant principal. In addition, she was a school board member for 5 years, serving both Union District #23 and the Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union. She received her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Ithaca College in New York, a master’s in social work from the University of Maryland at Baltimore, and a master’s in education leadership from Castleton State College in Vermont.

“With her skills and experience, Kristyn understands SVHC’s crucial role in the community, and she will make important contributions to our Board of Trustees,” said Thomas A. Dee, FACHE, SVHC’s president and CEO. “I am pleased that she accepted this appointment to serve the ongoing advancement of health care in our region.”

Board members are nominated by the board’s Governance Committee and voted on by the entire board. In selecting new SVHC board members, the nominating committee looks for candidates who exemplify SVHC's values, can be counted on to actively participate in board work, and have leadership capabilities. SVHC looks for candidates who represent the communities the health system serves and have special expertise in fulfilling board duties.
