SVMC Sports medicine

Whether you are tackling a sports injury as an adult or looking for care for your child athlete, Southwestern Vermont Medical Center’s Sports Medicine team has you covered. From a simple sprain to non-invasive, non-surgical methods for treating complex sports injuries, SVMC’s roster of board-certified fellowship-trained physicians can get you back in the game.

What’s remarkable about our team is that they are athletes themselves. They can relate to your sports injury, because they have been injured on the field (or court or slopes or track or course) themselves. They know what it takes to repair the damage and recover strong.

Southwestern Vermont Medical Center Orthopedics and Sports Medicine physicians provide sideline medical coverage for athletic programs at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, Southern Vermont College, and Williams College, the collegiate summer baseball team the North Adams SteepleCats, not to mention many area high schools.

Injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament, known as the ACL, are suffered most commonly by athletes. ACL injuries are very painful and can be debilitating without proper treatment. Depending on the severity, treatments range from rest and rehabilitation to surgery. Athletes at all levels trust the physicians at SVMC Orthopedics to provide them with options and help them decide which treatment is best for them.
