IMPROVING HEALTH THROUGH COMMUNITY SERVICE

Volunteers are an integral part of the SVHC community. Our many dedicated volunteers, in positions across the health system and in the community, learn valuable skills and make lifelong friends. From students seeking important resume-building experiences and a peek at the health care system, to those past retirement looking to give back to their community, each volunteer contribution is valued and celebrated.

If you have a passion to serve or believe strongly in our mission, you may be a good candidate for volunteering at SVHC.

Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, What are you doing for others?

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Ways To Get Involved:

As an SVHC Lobby Ambassador, you will be the first point of contact that many patients and visitors have upon entering the hospital. You will welcome and greet patients and visitors, escort them to their destinations, and provide reassuring guidance and information. This assistance can help to make a stressful visit pleasant and enjoyable.

As an Activities Companion, you will provide immensely valuable support, companionship, and entertainment to residents of the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation (CLR). You will assist CLR Activities staff in creating engaging, consistent, and high-quality activities for residents and their families. From group crossword puzzles, to playing instruments, to enjoying quiet reading time, you can help to make life at CLR fulfilling and fun.

As a Personal Emergency Response Technician, you will directly support community members in their homes by providing access to phone devices that, at the touch of a button, will help in an emergency. You will install the systems and answer questions from community members related to their use. This service prevents tragedies and saves the lives of our friends and neighbors.

As an SVHC Auxiliary member, you will provide incredible support to programs and services that enhance the health of our patients and community. Through service and fundraising, the SVHC Auxiliary has given over $1 million to SVHC over the past 20 years to purchase needed equipment, provide scholarships, and much more. For more information, click here visit the SVHC Auxiliary page.

[CONTENT TO BE ADDED]

As a clerical assistant, you will provide support to staff in many departments across SVHC. You will enjoy a quiet work environment, and help with mailings, filing, and more. These contributions will help you to gain office-related skills and to become an invaluable part of an SVHC office.

Would you like to volunteer for SVHC, but have a busy, unpredictable schedule? By acting as a Helping Hand for SVHC, you will be notified in advance of large events or initiatives that would benefit from your temporary assistance. Volunteering in this capacity will provide a range of exciting experiences and opportunities across many departments, and allows for interaction with many of SVHC’s fantastic staff.

Do you have a talent you wish to share with SVHC? Did you see a program elsewhere that you would love to see in your community? We are always looking for bright ideas and passionate people to help bring them to life. Complete the form below to contact the Volunteer Services department to discuss your vision.
