Berkshire County Physician Joins SVMC Internal Medicine

BENNINGTON, VT—October 25, 2019— Internal Medicine practice at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) is pleased to welcome Richard Wiseman, MD. With this appointment, Dr. Wiseman also joins the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Putnam Medical Group. 

Since 1999, Dr. Wiseman has worked for Williamstown Medical Associates and the Williams College Health Center. He has also previously served as medical director of the VNA and Hospice of Northern Berkshire County.  He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Wiseman received his undergraduate degree in biology from Duke University in North Carolina and his medical degree from University of Massachusetts Medical School. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York, serving as chief medical resident in his final year. 

“Dr. Wiseman is has a wonderful reputation and a wealth of experience providing primary care to the people of our region,” said Trey Dobson, MD, SVMC’s chief medical officer and medical director of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Putnam Physicians. “We are delighted to have him help SVMC advance our mission of exceptional care.”

SVMC Internal Medicine provides primary care for patients 18 years and older. The practice is designated as a patient-centered medical home with the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and Blueprint for Health. The practice offers access to a dietitian, a diabetes educator, and other clinical professionals conveniently in the office.
