Medical Matters Weekly Features Leader from Vermont Care Partners

BENNINGTON, VT—August 24, 2021—Southwestern Vermont Health Care’s (SVHC) Medical Matters Weekly with Dr. Trey Dobson—a weekly interactive, multiplatform medical-themed talk show—will feature Catherine Burns, PhD, the quality director for Vermont Care Partners, on its September 1 program. The show will air at 12 p.m. She will share her work on the state’s COVID support programs.

The show is produced with cooperation from Catamount Access Television (CAT-TV). Viewers can see Medical Matters Weekly on Facebook at facebook.com/svmedicalcenter and facebook.com/CATTVBenningtonThe show is also available to view or download a podcast on www.svhealthcare.org/medicalmatters.

After the program, the video will be available on area public access television stations. On CAT-TV, viewers will find the show on channel 1075 at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, 1:30 p.m. Monday, 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 7:30 a.m. Friday, and 7 p.m. Saturday. GNAT-TV's Comcast channel 1074 airs the program at 8 a.m. Monday, 9 p.m. Wednesday, and 1 p.m. Saturday.

Dr. Burns has been the Quality Director for Vermont Care Partners (VCP) since 2015. In that role, she has supported quality improvement efforts and methodologies across the VCP Network that are coordinated with State partner activities. Prior to VCP, she has worked in a variety of clinical and leadership roles within the Vermont Designated Agency system. Dr. Burns has experience providing clinical care to children and families in integrated care settings, schools, homes, and in the community and currently is a practicing independent psychologist providing integrated care in a pediatric primary care setting. She has provided training around the state for practitioners in community mental health and education and has been an instructor at Johnson State College, the University of Vermont, and in the Program in Community Mental Health for graduates and undergraduates studying psychology and related fields. Dr. Burns earned a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology, a Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Vermont, and a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

  • 12 p.m. Wednesday, September 8: Caitlyn Boyd, PT, and Chad DeGrenier, RT, will discuss SVMC’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation program.
  • 12 p.m. Wednesday, September 15: Vikas Saini, MD, president of the Lown Institute will discuss healthcare quality metrics.
  • 12 p.m. Wednesday, September 22: Ayla Ellison, editor-in-chief of Becker's Hospital Review, will address hospital trends nationwide.
  • 12 p.m. Wednesday, September 29: Rebecca Graystone, MS, MBA, RN, NE-BC, of the American Nurses Association, will share her role within the Magnet program.

Transitioning to my new role has been exciting, despite all that is going on, and I am looking forward to all that is to come!"
