FreshStart Program Offered to Help People Quit Tobacco

BENNINGTON, VT—March 4, 2021—Quitting tobacco is among the most difficult things someone can do. Many people benefit from attending a support sessions to help them quit. Through a cooperation among the American Cancer Society, Vermont Blueprint for Health, The Vermont Department of Health, Vermont Quit Partners, and Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC), local residents can receive free FreshStart Tobacco Cessation sessions by phone at a time that is convenient for them.

“If you are using tobacco and you want to quit, I want to help,” said Kathy Dockum, who coordinates wellness programs for Vermont Blueprint for Health. “Having someone to help address your unique challenges is a proven way to quit successfully.”

Throughout these helpful one-on-one sessions, participants learn new ways to stop smoking or chewing tobacco, get tips on how to handle stress and withdrawal symptoms, and receive free nicotine replacement.
