Great Jobs for Students
Health systems have so many rewarding jobs for people with very little experience, including students. These jobs provide flexible schedules, a great view of the various healthcare careers, and extraordinary resume-building opportunities. They pay higher than many other jobs available to students and offer tuition assistance to those who qualify.
Entry Point Ambassador
If you are friendly and outgoing, this is a great job for you. Entry Point Ambassadors greet patients as they arrive for care and ensure they get to the appropriate department. You need a big smile and deep respect for patient privacy.
Housekeepers
Housekeepers are important members of the healthcare team. They get trained to manage all of the possible healthcare situations and can always ask questions if needed. Patients truly appreciate the housekeeping staff for making their stays as comfortable as possible.
Early Education Associate
If you like kids, you can work during school breaks at the Learning Tree Childcare Center. Under the guidance of experienced teachers, you will learn many of the aspects of caring for young children in a professional environment.
Nutrition Assistants
Nutrition Assistants take food orders and deliver meals to patients’ rooms. This is a great job for someone who is detail oriented, friendly, and speedy. And patients love the people who bring them their breakfast, lunch, and dinner!
Support Services Technician
This is a great job for someone who would like to pursue a job in health care. Support Services Technicians transport patients and supplies to various areas in the hospital. They learn a lot about hospital operations and whether they would like to pursue the next step: becoming a medical assistant, licensed nurses assistant (LNA), emergency tech, or go on to school to become a nurse or a doctor.
With just a small amount of training, students and others with little previous healthcare experience can get jobs as LNAs, medical assistants, or pharmacy technicians. With additional experience and training comes greater responsibility and higher pay.
