October 20 Medical Matters Weekly Welcomes Vanessa Britto, MD, of Brown University

BENNINGTON, VT—October 15, 2021—Southwestern Vermont Health Care’s (SVHC) Medical Matters Weekly with Dr. Trey Dobson—a weekly interactive, multiplatform medical-themed talk show—will feature Brown University’s Associate Vice President for Campus Life and Executive Director of Health and Wellness Vanessa Britto, MD, on its October 20 program. The show will air at 12 p.m. She will share the university’s pioneering role as one of the first institutions to mandate COVID vaccines for students and staff.

The show is produced with cooperation from Catamount Access Television (CAT-TV). Viewers can see Medical Matters Weekly on Facebook at facebook.com/svmedicalcenter and facebook.com/CATTVBennington. The show is also available to view or download a podcast on www.svhealthcare.org/medicalmatters.

After the program, the video will be available on area public access television stations. On CAT-TV, viewers will find the show on channel 1075 at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, 1:30 p.m. Monday, 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 7:30 a.m. Friday, and 7 p.m. Saturday. GNAT-TV's Comcast channel 1074 airs the program at 8 a.m. Monday, 9 p.m. Wednesday, and 1 p.m. Saturday.

Vanessa Britto, MD, is the associate vice president for Campus Life and executive director of Health and Wellness at Brown University. She is a board-certified internist and has been a student-life professional and administrator since 2001. She was inducted as a fellow in the American College of Physicians (FACP) and awarded the Rhode Island American College of Physicians Women Physician of the Year in 2021. Having leadership roles in the field of college health at the local, regional, and national levels, Britto was formerly the director of health services at Wellesley College. At Brown, she oversees the areas of Health Services, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), BWell Health Promotion, Student and Accessibility Services (SAS), and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) with a combined team of over 200 staff and students.

Next week, the show will host Rebecca Bell, MD, of University of Vermont Medical Center at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27, on the topic of COVID vaccines for children. Meet Emma Weiskopf, MD

Neurologist Emma Weiskopf, MD, joined the SVMC Neurology practice in March and is ready to see patients remotely using telemedicine and in person at her office. Dr. Weiskopf provides care for neurological problems, including seizures; headaches, including botox for migraines; and neuromuscular disease. She also provides comprehensive EMG/NCS services, a test for recording the electrical activity of muscles and nerves, which is used to diagnose such disorders as carpal tunnel.

Dr. Weiskopf received her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed her residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center, both in New York. She served as chief resident 2005 – 2006 before going on to a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at New York University Medical Center 2006 – 2007.

Dr. Weiskopf has been an attending neurologist at Berkshire Medical Center in Massachusetts since 2008. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
