Festive Holiday Mocktails

Cheers without the booze: 3 mocktails everyone can enjoy this holiday season

Whether you’re living sober or counting calories, festive holiday mocktails make it easy to enjoy the joy and flavors of the season without feeling like you’re missing out.

Full of flavor and alcohol-free, these mocktails rely on simple ingredients to create a light, refreshing beverage so tasty you may want to keep in rotation through Dry January and beyond.

 

Cranberry Spritz

Ingredients:

1/2 cup cranberry juice (unsweetened)

1/4 cup orange juice

1/2 cup sparkling water

Fresh rosemary sprig for garnish

Fresh cranberries for garnish

Instructions:

Mix the juices in a glass over ice, top with sparkling water, and garnish with rosemary and cranberries.

 

Pomegranate Mint Fizz

Ingredients:

1/2 cup pomegranate juice

1/2 cup lime-flavored sparkling water

Mint leaves (muddled + for garnish)

Pomegranate seeds for garnish

Instructions:

Muddle mint leaves at the bottom of a glass, add pomegranate juice, fill with ice, and top with sparkling water. Garnish with pomegranate seeds and mint sprig.

 

Apple Cider Mule

Ingredients:

1/2 cup apple cider

1/4 cup ginger beer (non-alcoholic)

Splash of lime juice

Thin apple slices and cinnamon stick for garnish

Instructions:

Combine apple cider and lime juice in a glass with ice, top with ginger beer, and garnish with apple slices

Meet Emma Weiskopf, MD

Neurologist Emma Weiskopf, MD, joined the SVMC Neurology practice in March and is ready to see patients remotely using telemedicine and in person at her office. Dr. Weiskopf provides care for neurological problems, including seizures; headaches, including botox for migraines; and neuromuscular disease. She also provides comprehensive EMG/NCS services, a test for recording the electrical activity of muscles and nerves, which is used to diagnose such disorders as carpal tunnel.

Dr. Weiskopf received her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed her residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center, both in New York. She served as chief resident 2005 – 2006 before going on to a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at New York University Medical Center 2006 – 2007.

Dr. Weiskopf has been an attending neurologist at Berkshire Medical Center in Massachusetts since 2008. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
