When a loved one requires care beyond what can be provided at home, you want a place that strives to meet not just the physical needs of the individual, but the emotional needs, too. Long-term care at Southwestern Vermont Health Care means valuing the individual while attending to their medical needs in an environment that truly feels like home. And because there is no substitute for being there, family members are welcome at any hour of any day and are encouraged to be a part of the care planning for their loved one.
Located in the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation, our long-term care facility features the best care available. The Centers earned a deficiency-free rating on our last survey and was voted best nursing home by the Bennington Banner’s Reader’s Choice Poll.
Our services include:
Residents at CLR have excellent access to medical care. A board-certified physician is on-site two days per week, while nurse practitioners are present five days per week. Our full-time nursing staff is always available to administer medication — including dialysis and IV antibiotics, tend to any special equipment, and monitor wounds as needed. In addition, residents receive care from physical therapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists as often as seven days a week. A geriatrician and a geriatric dentist are also on hand. And because we’re located on the SVHC campus, specialty physicians are literally steps away and readily available to provide care and assessments as needed.
Clean, comfortable accommodations include a direct phone line and Wi-Fi Internet access. A computer lab and rehabilitation gym in addition to several activity rooms and common areas are available for residents to use.
CLR features many healthy and delicious food options in their newly remodeled restaurant-style dining room and to residents’ rooms via room service. Daily specials and a unique pub-style menu means that all residents can find options they enjoy.
Every day at CLR is filled with opportunities for residents to engage with each other. From fitness programs, card games, and religious services to community conversations, musical performances, and celebrations — including every resident’s birthday—our robust program keeps residents’ minds and bodies active. Family members are welcome to participate in all programs. CLR happily supports the spiritual life of all residents of all faiths. In addition to a weekly ecumenical service and monthly Catholic Mass, we provide access to area clergy and welcome them in our doors any time a resident desires their presence.
At-home caregiving can be the best option for some families, but even the most dedicated caregivers sometimes need a break. CLR offers Respite Care stays from as short as one night and as long as you need. While under our care, your loved one will receive care that resembles as closely as possible the care they receive when at home or with you.
