SVMC Welcomes Adam P. Kaftan, MD, to Emergency Department

BENNINGTON, VT—September 15, 2022— Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC), part of Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC), is pleased to welcome Adam P. Kaftan, MD, to the SVMC Emergency Department.

Dr. Kaftan earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska and his bachelor’s in biology from the University of Dallas. He completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at Dartmouth Health in New Hampshire. He is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.

SVMC’s Emergency Department is currently undergoing a renovation and expansion that will nearly double its size. The project will further enhance patient safety, infection prevention, and patient privacy. Vertical treatment areas will allow for highly efficient treatment of low-acuity conditions. The project also includes an expansion to the Emergency Crisis Area for those experiencing mental health distress and increased telehealth connectivity with Dartmouth Health.

The Emergency Department is staffed 24 hours a day and treats over 25,000 patients a year, many with life-threatening conditions. The hospital is located at 100 Hospital Drive in Bennington. For more information about SVMC’s emergency services, visit svhealthcare.org.
