SVMC Physician Earns Strategic Centre for Obesity Professional Education Certification

BENNINGTON, VT— July 14, 2022— Kimberley Sampson, MD, FACOG, DABOM, an OB/GYN at SVMC OB/GYN, part of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) and Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC), has earned a certification from the Strategic Centre for Obesity Professional Education (SCOPE). This internationally recognized standard of obesity management expertise promotes and acknowledges excellence in obesity prevention and treatment.

Sampson is board certified in obesity medicine in addition to obstetrics and gynecology. The SCOPE certification enhances those credentials with specialized training in supporting patients with obesity. The training aims to reduce the global burden of the disease, combat stigma associated with obesity, and build understanding of obesity as a multifactorial disease.

Originally from the United Kingdom, Sampson received her medical degree from St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine in Grand Cayman, BWI, and a degree in biology from the University of South Wales in Wales, UK. She completed her residency in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mount Sinai Hospital and Medical Centers in Chicago. She is the Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at SVMC, Chair of the Vermont Section of ACOG and Clinical Assistant Professor in OBGYN, Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.

Those interested in pursuing obesity treatment with Dr. Sampson may be referred to SVMC OB/GYN by their physician or healthcare provider. The treatment is covered by some insurances. It is recommended that patients check with their insurance prior to receiving this treatment.
