SVMC Cited as a Best-in-State Hospital by Newsweek

Health System named second in state of Vermont

Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) , a part of Dartmouth Health, has been recognized as part of Newsweek’s America’s Best-In-State Hospital 2024 list. SVMC was ranked second in the state of Vermont behind the University of Vermont Medical Center. This prestigious annual list recognizes 600 leading hospitals across the nation and is based on four data sources. These include a nationwide survey of healthcare professionals; patient surveys regarding cleanliness of the hospital, communication of the nurses/doctors, care transition, communication about medicines, discharge information, quietness, and staff responsiveness; hospital quality metrics from Medicare and Medicaid Services related to mortality, safety, readmission, experience, timely and effective care; and patient-reported outcome measures implementation.

“This recognition is a testament to the quality of care and compassion patients experience here at SVMC,” said Tom Dee, president and CEO. “It speaks to the dedication and integrity of our entire medical team who continuously deliver people-centered care and operational excellence every day.”
