SVHC Launches Healthy+ Magazine

BENNINGTON, VT—March 31, 2022—In an effort to distribute health and lifestyle information in an accessible and interesting way, Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC) has launched a quarterly magazine called Healthy+.  The publication is free and available wherever the Vermont News Guide is distributed and is accessible online at https://svhealthcare.org/Healthy.

“Through this new magazine, we are listening to the public and aiming to get them the information they need most,” said Pamela Duchene, PhD, APRN, chief nursing officer and vice president for Patient Care Services who also directs the health system’s population health programs. “It is one of many ways we are trying to develop a regional culture where it’s easier for everyone to live a healthy life.”

The magazine topics are based on those identified by the community health needs assessment, a triannual process that includes a wide-ranging health and wellness survey and regional focus groups. It was conducted last year.

“The entire magazine—all of the articles and the design—is focused on our communities’ particular health needs,” said Ray Smith, the health system’s administrative director for Corporate Development, who oversees communications. “We think our community members will look forward to each issue and find it useful in their efforts to improve their health and the health of their families.”

The first issue addresses vaping, child development, heart health, mental health, among others, and is available now. The back of the publication includes a comprehensive directory of services available to local residents in addition to the medical services the health system offers.
