FREE COVID Test Kits

Both the federal government and Vermont are offering free COVID tests.

To access four free at-⁠home COVID-⁠19 tests from the federal government, visit https://www.covidtests.gov/. The tests are completely free. Orders will usually ship in 7 - 12 days. It’s recommended that you order now, so you have the tests on hand when you need them.

Vermont is also offering free tests delivered to homes. Visit sayyescovidhometest.org. While the site was out of tests at the time of publication, more are expected soon. Check back often to order.

Both programs offer rapid antigen at-home tests, also known as self tests and over-the-counter tests. They can be taken anywhere and provide results at home within 30 minutes. Rapid tests work whether or not you have COVID symptoms and regardless of your vaccination status.

To improve the sensitivity of the tests, it is advised to take two tests 24-hours apart.
