WILMINGTON, VT—August 3, 2020—When Walter M. Harris passed away in 2019, his wife, Barbara Harris, and daughter, Jane May Jones, knew they wanted to honor his memory with a special gift to community. The family has had great experiences as patients of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) and SVMC Deerfield Valley Campus, both part of Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC).

Jones and her mother, a talented gardener, decided to donate funds to create a garden at the newly renovated clinic in Wilmington. They encouraged family and friends to contribute funds for the purpose and recently gathered to dedicate the garden.

Landscape Designer Jeanne Mintrone, of Pownal, VT, standing, volunteered to design and install the garden.

“We can’t thank Barbara, Jane, or Jeanne enough for their contribution to SVMC Deerfield Valley Campus,” said Dagmar Tobits, MD, the campus’s medical director. “It is such a cheery addition to the clinic, and we greatly appreciate it.”

SVMC Deerfield Valley Campus provides primary care to patients of all ages. The practice is accepting new patients. Those interested should call 802-464-5311 to schedule an initial appointment. Donations in honor of Mr. Harris may be made to the SVMC Deerfield Valley Campus through the SVHC Foundation at svhealthcare.org/give-now.
