'Sound the Alarm' to Save a Life
Every day, home fires claim seven lives across the country. The presence of working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death by half.
With the aim of reducing fire-related deaths and injuries in the US by 25%, the American Red Cross is running its annual ‘Sound the Alarm’ throughout the month of April in the Greater New England area. The program connects homeowners or tenants with Red Cross volunteers who install free smoke alarms in homes that don't have them, create fire escape plans for those homes, and educate people about home fire safety.
Individuals without fire alarms in their homes are encouraged to reach out to the Red Cross to sign up for the program.
