It's Time to Register for The Fall Healthy Kids Running Series

The Healthy Kids Running Series is back for another fall season of weekly races. A 5-week program designed for children ages 2 to 14, the series kicks off on September 8 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Anthony Union High School in Bennington, VT.

The series continues with additional races taking place at the same time and location on September 8, 15, 29, and October 6 and 20, with each day’s event lasting roughly one hour.

Intended to provide children with a fun introduction to the sport of running in an environment that builds confidence and self-esteem, Healthy Kids runs spring and fall programs across the country every year. Participants are grouped with age peers and challenged to run age-appropriate race distances. Runners in the following age groups compete each week for a chance to earn points:

► Pre-K (2/3 Year Olds) – 50 Yard Dash

► Pre-K (4/5 Year Olds) – 75 Yard Dash

► Kindergarten – 1st Grade – ¼ Mile

► 2nd Grade – 3rd Grade – ½ Mile

► 4th Grade – 8th Grade – 1 Mile

► Challenger Division* - 75 Yard Dash

*The Challenger Division is an adaptive 75-yard race for children with disabilities and/or special needs that caters to the intellectually and physically disabled athletes. The race gives children living with disabilities the opportunity to participate in all the wonderful benefits the Healthy Kids Running Series offers.

Early bird registration is now available online by clicking here. Early registration is just $45 and includes a Healthy Kids Running Series T-shirt, race bibs, a finisher medal awarded at the close of the program, and any sponsor giveaways. Top point scorers from each age category will receive a trophy at the end of the series. The cost for the program after the early bird registration is $50 and the drop-in cost is $20/day.

Healthy Kids Running Series race is coordinated by members of the community who have a passion for an active healthy lifestyle and fun competition. The program is actively looking for partners to sponsor the Fall running series as well as volunteers to help lead pre-run stretching, registration/check-in, and to marshal the course.
