SVHC Wins Five Regional Marketing Awards for Centennial Promotions

BENNINGTON, VT—June 19, 2019—The Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC) Marketing and Communications Department has received five prestigious regional healthcare communications awards for work produced during its Centennial year.

“SVHC has a wonderful story filled with dedicated, skilled, and compassionate professionals all working to fulfill patients’ needs. Our Centennial year was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to share the qualities that have made SVHC such a strong community hospital and a great place to receive care,” said Ray E. Smith, Southwestern Vermont Health Care’s director of marketing and communications. “We are pleased that the projects we submitted resonated with the community and with the judges of these awards.”

SVHC received Gold Lamplighter Awards for its Centennial Campaign and a historical exhibit titled A Century of Caring, Silver Lamplighter Awards for the commemorative book A Century of Caring and its Centennial Employee Engagement Campaign, and a Bronze Lamplighter Award for the Centennial Gala Video.

Each of the entries included countless parts. For instance, the gold-award-winning Centennial Campaign included 25 events and all related promotions, including invitations, advertisements, series of social media posts, website and e-news articles, and more. The exhibit, made up of more than 80 artifacts from the health system’s 100-year history, moved from Bennington to each of the communities the hospital serves, including Manchester, VT; Hoosick Falls, NY; and Wilmington, VT.

“The Marketing and Communications team at SVHC provides unparalleled value, and we feel tremendous pride with how our projects performed when compared with those of their colleagues at major health systems in New England,” said Leslie Keefe, SVHC’s vice president for Corporate Development. “We are grateful to have these astute communications professionals working to share our local health information in ways that benefit our patients and the community.”

Awards were presented at the New England Society for Healthcare Communications 29th annual conference last week. The 2019 competition totaled 381 entries in each of more than 20 healthcare marketing and public relations categories from hospitals in all six New England States, including large academic medical centers and those in metropolitan areas. They are judged by a panel of healthcare marketing experts. Only one Gold and one Silver award are given in each category.
