SVHC Previews September 15 Medical Matters Weekly

BENNINGTON, VT—September 10, 2021—Southwestern Vermont Health Care’s (SVHC) Medical Matters Weekly with Dr. Trey Dobson—a weekly interactive, multiplatform medical-themed talk show—will feature the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center’s Director of Emergency Nursing Jill Maynard, RN, on its September 15 program. The show will air at 12 p.m. She will share news about SVMC’s upcoming Emergency Department renovation and expansion.

The show is produced with cooperation from Catamount Access Television (CAT-TV). Viewers can see Medical Matters Weekly on Facebook at facebook.com/svmedicalcenter and facebook.com/CATTVBenningtonThe show is also available to view or download a podcast on www.svhealthcare.org/medicalmatters.

After the program, the video will be available on area public access television stations. On CAT-TV, viewers will find the show on channel 1075 at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, 1:30 p.m. Monday, 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 7:30 a.m. Friday, and 7 p.m. Saturday. GNAT-TV's Comcast channel 1074 airs the program at 8 a.m. Monday, 9 p.m. Wednesday, and 1 p.m. Saturday.

Jill Maynard, RN, is the director of nursing for the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. She received her bachelor’s in nursing from Southern Vermont College in Bennington and will soon graduate with her master’s in nursing with a focus on leadership and management. She joined the SVMC nursing staff in 2004.  Prior to this, she served as an Advanced EMT for her local rescue squad and as an ED Technician. In her current role, she manages the ExpressCare, emergency, and ICU nursing. She also leads nursing initiatives, including those to ensure safe emergency access for COVID and non-COVID patients, to decrease workplace violence, and to increase access to high quality efficient emergency care. She has been instrumental in emergency management and preparedness, in the development of the Respiratory Evaluation Center and the Emergency Crisis Area, and in the implementation of support programs for individuals affected by mental health conditions and substance abuse.

  • 12 p.m. Wednesday, September 22: Ayla Ellison, editor-in-chief of Becker's Hospital Review, will address hospital trends nationwide.
  • 12 p.m. Wednesday, September 29: Rebecca Graystone, MS, MBA, RN, NE-BC, of the American Nurses Association, will share her role within the Magnet program.
  • 12 p.m. Wednesday, October 6: Kimberley Sampson, MD, of SVMC OB/GYN will provide information about obesity medicine, obstetrics, and gynecology.
  • 12 p.m. Wednesday, October 18: Vanessa Britto, MD, the associate vice president for Campus Life and executive director of Health and Wellness at Brown University in Rhode Island, will discuss the university’s pioneering role in mandating vaccines.
