PATIENT SUPPORT

Illness can be stressful. Whether your concerns relate to your illness, your feelings, your family or your finances, we are here to help.

If you are having difficulty understanding your care, our Patient Advocate is available to help you communicate with your health care team.  If you’ve got questions about your care that you don’t feel you can discuss with your nurse or physician, call (802) 440-4054. The patient advocate will offer all the time and attention you need to sort it out.

Clergy from all faiths and denominations are welcome at SVMC. Volunteer chaplains may visit hospitalized patients. If you would like to speak with our chaplain or to request a representative from a particular faith, please ask your nurse.

Our Social Services staff offer emotional support and help patients understand their treatment options, financial considerations, and end-of-life care planning. They can be reached by speaking with a nurse or by calling (802) 447-5079.

SVMC understands that health care is expensive and that paying for it can be stressful. To help, SVMC has a financial counselor available for patients. Call financial counseling at (802) 440-4083 between 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. weekdays.

If you or your family are struggling with the stresses of a life-limiting illness, SVMC Supportive Care may be right for you. Click here for more information

For patients who have obstacles related to meeting their basic needs, SVHC offers social workers to help. Speak with your nurse to connect with SVHC social services.
