Ways to Give
Not-for-profit hospitals and health systems seek community support in the form of volunteer time and financial support. Financial support is essential to meet the needs that are not covered by reimbursement.
Contributions provide the dollars needed to achieve and maintain quality healthcare programs and services. All gifts to Southwestern Vermont Health Care are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law. We welcome gifts in any of the following forms:
Cash Contributions: Gifts made with a check or credit card immediately go to work for SVHC. You can even Give Now.
Securities and Stocks: Enjoy the tax benefits of giving SVHC appreciated securities, mutual fund shares, and other types of property.
Estates and Bequests: A gift made through your estate plan may be the best way for you to make a sizable contribution to the hospital. To direct a bequest to Southwestern Vermont Health Care or one of its subsidiaries, we suggest that you ask your attorney to review the following language. "I give, devise and bequeath to the Southwestern Vermont Health Care Corporation, or its successors in interest, a non-profit corporation with its principal place of business in Bennington, Vermont, the sum of $XXXXX for its general charitable purposes."
Retirement Plans: Naming SVHC as a beneficiary of an IRA, 401(k) or 403(b) can reduce taxes — and result in a significant gift to the hospital.
Gifts that Return Income: These gifts provide a guaranteed income to a donor or beneficiary.
Real Estate: Transfer commercial property, a residence or other real estate holdings to SVHC.
Honor and Memorial Giving: Gifts in honor of a special occasion, such as an important wedding anniversary or retirement, and gifts in memory of a loved one pay tribute to the person and benefit others by continuing the mission of SVHC.
Gifts In Kind: These are donations of goods and services or tangible personal property.
If you would like to discuss any of these ways of giving, contact a member of our Development Staff or call our office today at (802) 447-5017. We would like to review the options that fit your needs.
