Enjoy a 300-year-old villa, just outside the tiny village of La Roquette sur Var, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of southeastern France. Situated on 10 hectares of olive groves, with stunning views of the perched village and mountains, the five-bedroom, four-bathroom villa comfortably accommodates 10 guests in two living rooms, a kitchen-dining area, as well as two large outside terraces complete with a barbecue grill, dining area, an in-ground saltwater swimming pool, and a boules/bocce court. The city of Nice is just 25 minutes away, and the coastal towns of Cannes, Monte Carlo, and Antibes are 30 – 40 minutes by car, as is St Paul de Vence— perhaps the prettiest village in France. Stroll the quaint narrow streets of the old fortified town with its many restaurants, shops, and fabulous art galleries. Have lunch or dinner at La Colombe d’Or; the famous restaurant hosted many struggling artists in the 60s, who left art in payment for food and board. Originals by Matisse, Picasso, and Miro, among others, now hang in the dining room. Visit the Maeght Foundation Museum of Modern Art, one of the largest collections of modern and contemporary art in Europe. One week stay September 2019 – May 2020. Closest Airport: Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport. Donated by Julie Moyle, facilitated by Nancy Kimball.
