SPEECH THERAPY

From finding success in the classroom or the workplace to forging meaningful relationships with others and navigating daily life, speaking and eating are essential to our connection to the world. At SVHC, we’re committed to helping those who struggle with communication and swallowing develop or regain the skills needed to connect and enjoy life.

Our team of master's degreed and licensed therapists work with patients of all ages in a variety of settings: while in the hospital, in our outpatient clinic, and at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation (CLR).

For inpatients and outpatients, programs address articulation, speech volume, word formation, and processing as well as swallowing and chewing. Using an individualized plan, we’re able to effectively treat conditions ranging from stroke, cancers, and Parkinson’s disease to Bell’s palsy, neuromuscular disorders, childhood apraxia, and more.

Residents and patients of CLR receive therapy to meet their unique goals. Whether preparing for a return home or working to maintain independence and quality of life in a residential care setting, those at CLR are guided through exercises to improve swallowing, eating, and communicating.

Some of the services we offer include:

• Video-fluoroscopy to evaluate swallowing
• Lindamood phonological processing program to assist with reading difficulties
• Lee Silverman voice treatment for Parkinson patients
• Deep pharyngeal neuromuscular stimulation to improve swallowing
