SVMC Laboratory and Pathology Services offers a full range of tests for the diagnosis and evaluation of a variety of medical conditions. Labs can be drawn at the hospital; the Cancer Center; at our Deerfield, Northshire, and Pownal Campuses;  and at our Hoosick Falls, NY location.  

Our staff includes a Medical Director, two pathologists, a team of phlebotomists, more than 20 technologists, and ancillary staff who support the needs of the laboratory team and our patients.

Our laboratory offers a full range of services, including hematology, chemistry, anatomical pathology, a blood bank, and microbiology. The lab is accredited by the Center for Medicare Services and the American College of Clinical Pathologists. In addition, the lab holds a clinical laboratory permit from the New York State Department of Health.

Technicians work 24/7, providing diagnostic services to emergency services, inpatient care, recently discharged hospital patients, off-campus clinics, and the Cancer Center.

When your doctor recommends lab testing, we make it easy to get the services and results you need as quickly and conveniently as possible. Early and weekend hours and two convenient locations ensure you can get labs drawn on your schedule. See above. Accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and New York State licensed, SVMC’s Laboratory Services and Pathology Department enjoy working relationships with Dartmouth Hitchcock, The University of Vermont Medical Center and the Mayo Clinic, which provides convenient access to the Rochester Test Catalog.
