BENNINGTON, VT—July 20, 2017—Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) is proud to announce the graduation of its first resident in the Podiatry Residency Program. At a gathering of health system leadership, fellow residents, and faculty, Michael Banh, DPM, was awarded a certificate of completion on the evening of July 11 at the Mount Anthony Country Club.

“I have enjoyed building close professional relationships with fellow residents and faculty members,” said Banh. “And I am grateful for the wide range of general medical and surgical experience I have gained. This was a great start to my medical career.”

Dr. Banh received his undergraduate education at California State University, Fullerton, and his medical degree at Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in Kent, Ohio. He spent 3 years at SVMC and its partner institutions completing rotations in many diverse specialties, including anesthesiology, emergency medicine, general surgery, hospital medicine, and infectious disease, among others. He intends to join a podiatry practice in New Jersey.

Six residents remain in the program. They are incoming third-year residents Suzanne McGuire and Evan Yoo, second-year residents Marie “McCamie” DeArmon and Jeffrey Pantano, and first-year residents Cody Anderson and Kurt Malkames.

“Seeing Michael begin his career is tremendously gratifying for all of us,” said William Sarchino, DPM, Podiatry Residency program director. “He was a great first resident, and we know he will use the training and skills he learned with us to provide excellent care for his patients.”
