Bringing Academic Medicine Home

Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and Dartmouth-Hitchcock work together to bring the finest health care available to Southwestern Vermont and the surrounding area. In 2012, the two formed Dartmouth-Hitchcock Putnam Physicians—a multi-specialty physician group based at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) in Bennington, Vermont.

This physician group employs more than 100 providers.  All practice within a professional services agreement with Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, a 99-bed community hospital serving 75,000 people in the towns and villages of Bennington County, western Windham County and southern Rutland County in Vermont; eastern Rensselaer County in New York; and northern Berkshire County in Massachusetts.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Putnam Physicians practice in 14 specialties and manage primary care practices in Bennington, Manchester, and the Deerfield Valley, Vermont.

Through the Dartmouth-Hitchcock affiliation, doctors have better access to the tools they need, and patients have better access to specialists, programs like genetic counseling and clinical trials, technological innovation, and more, all closer to home.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Putnam Physicians is part of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock health system. Dartmouth-Hitchcock provides care for more than 1.5 million people throughout northern New England. The system includes New Hampshire’s only academic medical center and 396-bed tertiary referral hospital, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, based in Lebanon, New Hampshire, as well as Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic, a network of more than 1,200 primary and specialty care physicians located throughout New Hampshire and Vermont.
