In-Person Childbirth Education

Each weekly session of this Lamaze-certified childbirth education 4-week class is in person. A coinciding virtual version of the class is also available.  The class is based on providing a respectful and evidence-based experience where parents can follow their own unique journey toward parenthood with understanding and confidence. Topics covered include basic pregnancy and birthing anatomy; positions, breathing, and meditation techniques; and pain management strategies. The series will also touch on self and baby care post-delivery and breastfeeding.

  • Expectant parents should plan to participate after their 30th week of pregnancy.
  • Support persons are also encouraged to register. Those attending from the same household need only register once. Support persons, including doulas, are encouraged to participate in the classes in their entirety, if possible.
  • Enter through the main lobby of the hospital. It is notated with a “V” on this map. Then, follow the signs to the Seminar Room.
  • Hospital policy requires all attendees to wear masks and be screened for symptoms upon entering. Please do not attend if feeling unwell.
  • Each participant will receive a kit of materials at the class. Please let us know if you have a latex allergy during your first exchange with the instructor. The kit noted above does contain latex.
  • The cost of the class is $40, but accommodations are available for those in need of a reduced or free class. Please e-mail wellness@svhealthcare.org to registered for a reduced fee or no cost. Participants who register on this site may submit a receipt for the class payment to their insurance company for potential reimbursement.
  • Due to the group setting, all attendees accept personal responsibility regarding revealing their own information. Those in the group should not share information about other class participants with those outside the class.
