Volunteer for VNA & Hospice: It's about Living
Each year, more and more families are turning to the support and care of VNA & Hospice services for their loved ones. This support would not be complete without the warm compassion of volunteers …
Hospice volunteers are an essential component of the care delivered to our patients. The warmth of a volunteer's heart can help hospice patients and families by providing companionship and support. Volunteers also are needed to assist in the office setting.
What Can Hospice Volunteers Do?
Listen to the patient
Engage in patients' favorite hobbies
Go for a walk with a patient
Allow caregiver time for himself or herself
Help with light household tasks
Serve as a liaison between the patient and/or family and the hospice staff
Perform office duties, such as data entry, mailings, and photocopying
Who Can Volunteer?
Anyone 18 years or older is welcome to apply for our volunteer program. A screening will take place prior to orientation or training. Emotional maturity is a crucial aspect of the volunteer's personality, as the nature of each individual situation is different and can be intense.
Hospice Helps People LIVE!
Our hospice team focuses on caring and comfort, not curing.
We provide services to people of any age, creed, race or illness. Hospice care is covered by most insurances, but no one is refused service based on ability to pay.
VNA & Hospice Needs Volunteers to …
... Enhance the quality of care delivered to patients and families
... Maximize program and family resources
... Involve community members in the delivery of Hospice care
