Privacy at Southwestern Vermont Health Care
Privacy of Your Medical Information
The privacy of your medical information is extremely important and we work to make sure it is secure at all times. To find our more about our privacy practices, read our Notice of Privacy Practice.
We respect your right to privacy. That means you have the right to limit access to information about your medical condition.
When you were admitted to SVMC, we informed you of your right not to be listed in our facility directory. If you choose not to be listed, we will not tell anyone you are here, including your family or close friends.
If you change your mind about this decision, please tell your nurse.
Typically when someone calls the switchboard and asks for a patient by name, we check our facility directory. If the patient's name appears in the directory, we transfer that call to the patient's room.
As a visitor to svhealthcare.org, your privacy is important to us.
We do not share e-mail addresses, obtained via communication with visitors to www.svhealthcare.org, with anyone outside Southwestern Vermont Health Care.
We make no effort to identify public users of www.svhealthcare.org. We do not collect personally identifying data other than when necessary to register visitors for classes and process payments.
As is typical, we log http requests to our server. This means that we know the originating IP (e.g. 126.96.36.199) address of an agent requesting a URL, the visitor's domain name, referral data, and browser and platform type. We do not log the specific identity of visitors. We occasionally analyze the log files to determine which files are most requested.
We also may log requests to our search engines. This data is only used for administration and researching the efficiency of our tools.
