Visiting Hours at SVMC

Restricted Visitation: Because of the prevalence of the H1N1 flu virus. SVMC has temporarily restricted visitation. The restrictions are as follows:

  • no one under age 18 is allowed to visit
  • only two visitors per patient
  • no one with cold or flu symptoms (fever, cough, etc.) is allowed to visit

These restrictions will remain in place until the activity of H1N1 flu in our community subsides.

Normal Visitation:
In general SVMC has open visitation. That means visitors are welcome at any time. This even extends to our Emergency Department, where we allow one or two people to stay with patients. Some units, such as the Intensive Care Unit and the Birth Place, have more specific policies on visitors.

Here are some things to keep in mind when visiting SVMC:

  • Only a few people should visit at once. More than three or four visitors can overcrowd a room.
  • Don't visit if you are sick. That helps us protect all our patients.
  • Children must have an adult with them at all times.
  • Respect other patients's needs for privacy and rest.
  • Pay attention to our staff and follow their directions.

If you have questions about visiting a particular location in our hospital, call our main phone number (802) 442-6361. Ask to speak to the nurses' station where you want to visit.
