SVMC's Deerfield Valley Campus Offers Flu Vaccination Clinics
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WILMINGTON — It’s that time of year again — the weather is getting colder, the days are getting shorter, and the threat of the flu hangs in the air. Southwestern Vermont Medical Center’s (SVMC) Deerfield Valley Campus is offering community flu vaccination clinics in Wilmington. The single best way to protect yourself and your family against the flu is to get the flu vaccine.
The flu vaccination clinics will be held at 30 Route 100 South in Wilmington, and are for existing patients of SVMC’s Deerfield Valley Campus only. The dates and times for the clinics are as follows: Tuesday, October 9, Thursday, October 18, and Tuesday, October 23, from 1 to 5 p.m., and on Saturday, November 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please call 802-464-5311 to schedule an appointment for these clinics
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recommending the flu vaccine for everyone six months and older. Getting vaccinated is especially important for those at higher risk for serious flu-related complications or those who live with or care for those at high risk. They include: pregnant women; people 65 years of age and older; people with certain chronic medical conditions; and people with a body mass index (BMI) above 39.
It is also recommended that those who care for or come in contact with high-risk individuals be vaccinated. They include health care workers; family members and household contacts; and family members and caregivers for children under six months of age.
SVMC’s Deerfield Valley Campus is a part of Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC), a non-profit, integrated health system serving communities in Vermont, New York, and Massachusetts. SVHC also includes the VNA and Hospice of SVHC, the Centers for Living & Rehabilitation, the SVMC Northshire Campus, and Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center.
