Samuelson Certified by American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine

Dr. Joshua Samuelson, a physician at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) Northshire Campus, recently received certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine (ABIHM). Being certified in integrative and holistic medicine offers patients a blended approach between conventional and integrative holistic medicine.

"Integrative and holistic services expand the services SVMC Northshire campus can provide its community," stated Dr. Samuelson. "I am pleased to be able to offer integrative and holistic medical services as an American Board certified physician by those patients who seek additional care and treatments."

To be certified by the ABIHM, Dr. Samuelson was required to meet comprehensive, peer-review as well as psychometrically validated standards for knowledge in complementary, integrative, and holistic medicine. Dr. Samuelson joined the Northshire Campus of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) in 2009. He received his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at Christiana Care Hospital in Wilmington, Del.

The American Board of Holistic Medicine was founded in 1996 and officially changed its name to the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine in 2008. The Vision of the ABIHM is to establish and maintain the highest standards of medical care, ignite and sustain the joy and passion of physicians in their work, establish the role of unconditional love as the basis of healing and support, and to recognize the importance of the health of the planet as integral to human health.
