Dr. Dagmar Tobits Joins SVMC ‘s Deerfield Valley Campus

WILMINGTON — The Deerfield Valley Campus of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Putnam Physicians welcome Dagmar (Dasha) Tobits, M.D. Dr. Tobits is originally from Slovakia and was attracted to the New England area because of it’s natural beauty and caring communities.
“Vermont and its residents remind me of my own country,” said Dr. Tobits. “About 10 years ago I came to New Hampshire and really liked New England. I went into the profession of medicine to work with and help people. This area fits with the way I wanted to live with my family.”
Dr. Tobits received her medical degree from the Comenius University School of Medicine in Bratislava, Slovakia. She completed her residency in family medicine at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, N.Y.
“I really enjoy the variety of patients and the variety of medical care I can provide as a family medicine physician,” Dr. Tobits stated. “I can address the whole person and serve as my patients’ guide for their medical care throughout their lives.”
“I met some very nice people while doing my residency in Schenectady,” she added, “and knew I wanted to stay close to this area to practice.
“When I came to SVMC, I was impressed by the friendliness and how genuine everyone was. I was excited to learn, that SVMC’s Deerfield Valley Campus is nationally recognized as a Level 3 Medical Home, the highest level there is,” she continued. “That requires meeting high standards, which appealed to me.”
Besides English, Dr. Tobits also is fluent in Slovak and Czech and understands Polish and Russian. She has a special interest in women’s health, preventive medicine, and in working with children.
“I feel privileged to join a great team that is dedicated to patient-centered, high- quality care. I am looking forward to serving the needs of my neighbors in the Deerfield Valley.”
Dr. Tobits lives in Readsboro with her husband and two children and enjoys hiking and being outdoors. “I love living in such beautiful surroundings,” she said.
Dr. Tobits is now available to see patients at SVMC’s Deerfield Valley Campus at 30 Route 100 South in Wilmington. To make an appointment with her, call (802) 464-5311.
