SVHC Seeks Nominations for Outstanding Physician and Outstanding Community Member

BENNINGTON — In September, Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC) will host its third annual Harvest Ball fundraising gala. At the annual event, the health system honors two individuals, a physician, and a community member, for their efforts to advance the health system’s vision of healthier communities. The health system is asking for nominations from the public, the physician community, health system employees, and the board of trustees.

“Healthcare is changing, and the need for physicians, hospitals, and members of the community to collaborate on shared goals is more important than ever before,” said Thomas Dee, the health system’s president and CEO. “These awards acknowledge leaders in our community and among our physicians and their commitment to providing quality care to our community.”

The Health Care Leadership Award will recognize a physician who demonstrates excellence in medical practice and patient care and whose service is aimed at improving health care in our service area. The honoree must live in a community served by SVHC but may be currently practicing or retired.

The Distinguished Community Service Award honors a member of the community for their commitment, support, and service to SVHC’s mission and vision.

Winners from the nominations will be selected and announced in May by the SVHC’s board of trustees. To nominate a physician, community member, or both, go to or call the SVHC Development office at (802) 447-5017 for a paper nomination form. Deadline for both award nominations is April 30.

Awards will be presented at the SVHC second annual Harvest Ball on Sept. 8. The event will take place at the 1768 Hubbell Homestead at Colgate Park. All proceeds will benefit Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
