Oral-Maxillofacial Surgeon Joins SVMC
BENNINGTON — Dr. Timothy M. Osborn, an oral-maxillofacial surgeon, lived very close to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., while growing up.
“My whole family was involved in medicine,” he stated. “I wanted to do something a little different and became very interested in dentistry. When I saw a demonstration of oral surgery in dental school, I knew that’s what I wanted to do.”
Osborn received his medical degree from and completed a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. It was there that he met fellow oral surgeon, Dr. Eric Holmgren. It was a friendship that would later influence Osborn’s move to the east coast.
“Dr. Holmgren and I trained together,” he stated. “He began practicing in the area at Oral and Facial Surgery Associates and recently encouraged me to join him. When my wife and I visited the Bennington area, we were immediately struck with how beautiful it is here and knew this was where we wanted to live.”
Osborn enjoys working with all age groups and with any type of condition or trauma that affects the face, jaw, ears, neck or mouth. He has special interests in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, surgery for Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ) and is one of only a few doctors in the United States trained in an innovative type of surgery that offers migraine relief.
“It brings me pleasure as a doctor to know that I can help relieve someone’s chronic symptoms or help them recover from a facial trauma,” said Osborn.
Osborn recently moved to the area with his wife, Vona, and their two dogs, Roscoe and Sissy. They all enjoy going for walks, hiking, and dog training. “It’s great to be living in such a scenic area of the country,” he added.
Osborn will split his time between several of Oral and Facial Surgery Associates area locations. To make an appointment with him in Bennington, call 802-447-7073.
