SVMC to Hold Annual Heart Hike and Wellness Walk, June 12
BENNINGTON – Cardiac survivors, their friends, family members and anyone interested in heart health will “walk for the health of it” at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center’s (SVMC) 21st annual Heart Hike & Wellness Walk Saturday, June 12. The walk is sponsored by SVMC’s Cardiac Rehab program and the Wellness Connection. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. on the lawn of the Bennington Elks Lodge, Washington Avenue. The event is free and open to the public; the half-mile, one-, two- or three-mile walks begin at 10 a.m.
“The cardiac rehab program helps people who have heart disease recover strength and endurance through education and exercise,” explained Patty Ryan, cardiac rehab nurse. “Please come and join the cardiac rehab staff along with Dr. Scott Rogge and Dr. Steve Anisman for this heart healthy walking event.”
The yearly event focuses on walking for health and is open to walkers of all ages. Free health information and blood pressure screenings also will be available.
