Cancer Center to Host Cancer Survivor's Day, June 2 from 3 to 6 p.m.
BENNINGTON -- Millions of Americans are living proof that cancer can be beaten. On June 2, cancer survivors, their families, and caregivers in and around Bennington will gather outside Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center to celebrate life and the fight against cancer.
The event will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. outside the Cancer Center, which is located on the campus of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. There will be music, food, and fun for the whole family.
"Now more than ever, new treatments, prevention, and early diagnosis mean hope and a future for people diagnosed with cancer," said Orion Howard, MD, director of medical oncology at Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center. "Each year we host Cancer Survivor's Day to celebrate the life of people who have tackled cancer."
The cancer center also is spearheading teams for both the Relay for Life and the Race for the Cure. Anyone interested in joining the team can sign up at Cancer Survivor’s Day. "The Relay for Life, and the Race for the Cure provide important funding for the fight against cancer,” Howard added. “We are trying to recruit as many people as possible to help us in this cause."
