BENNINGTON, Vt. — Southwestern Vermont Medical Center will host a series of public forums throughout its service area starting August 31. At these forums, Dr. Mark Novotny, interim CEO of the health system, will present an overview of the 2009 Act 53 Hospital Report Card and discuss the hospital's financial recovery.
"Southwestern Vermont Medical Center exists for the people in our communities," Novotny explained. "This an opportunity for the public to give SVMC some feedback and let us know how we can better serve the communities. It's also a chance for everyone to hear more about our quality initiatives, and learn about how we are recovering from our recent financial setback."
Dr. Novotny will open the meeting with a brief presentation of SVMC's scores for quality and patient satisfaction. He also will discuss the hospital's current financial status, changes at SVMC, and what plans the hospital and health system are making for the future. After the presentation, Dr. Novotny will take questions.
The forums all will start at 7 p.m. They will begin in Manchester on Monday, Aug. 31, at Manchester Elementary-Middle School. On Tuesday, Sept. 1, SVMC will host the second forum at Memorial Hall in Wilmington, Vt. And on Thursday, Sept. 3, SVMC will host the final public forum in the Seminar Room at the hospital.
