SVMC General Surgery Welcomes Reconstructive Surgeon
BENNINGTON — James A. Edmond, MD, has joined SVMC General Surgery as a part-time plastic and reconstructive surgeon. Edmond comes to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) with a wide variety of experience, including a private practice in plastic and reconstructive surgery; Physicians for Peace; Clinical Team Coordinator for Plastic Surgery in the Dominican Republic; and an appointment as Associate Clinical Professor at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY.
Edmond received his medical degree from Wake Forest University. He completed his residency in general surgery at Maine Medical Center and his residency in plastic surgery at Rhode Island Hospital. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
Edmond will provide reconstructive surgery with a specific focus on post-mastectomy reconstruction and complex wound management. “Having reconstructive surgery can be life-changing for someone, “said Edmond. “I enjoy making a positive difference in a patient’s life.
“Having worked in Albany for many years, I have consulted with some of SVMC’s surgeons in the past. I am very familiar with the high quality of medical care provided here,” said Edmond. “The doctors at SVMC have a very progressive way of thinking about things and I am glad to be a more central part of that innovativeness.”
Edmond and his wife, Marybeth, a healthcare management consultant, also enjoy gardening and sailing. They have lived in the Albany area for more than 25 years.
Edmond’s office is located in Suite 204 of the Medical Office Building at 140 Hospital Drive in Bennington. To make an appointment, call (802) 447-0607.
