"Life-Changing" Workshop Offered
“It’s only once a week for six weeks and it will change your life. Without your health and learning to cope with chronic conditions, the quality of your life just isn’t there. It’s free. It’s fun. And there’s nothing to lose.”
This is what Carol Rickel tells people who she thinks would benefit from the Healthier Living Workshop. Rickel said the workshop changed her life for the better.
The self-management workshop for people with chronic conditions begins its next 6-week series on Wednesday, Sept. 12. The workshop, created by the Vermont Blueprint for Health, will meet from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Bennington Senior Center, Pleasant Street.
The workshop is designed for people with a chronic condition, such as arthritis, asthma, heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, emphysema, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, or chronic pain. People who have completed the program report increased energy, less stress, more self-confidence, and fewer medical office visits. Care givers for people with chronic conditions also benefit from the workshop.
Advance registration is required. To sign up, call the Wellness Connection at Southwestern Vermont Health Care at (802) 447-5076. The program is free for Vermont residents.
Wellness Connection is a community outreach service of Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC) that offers an ongoing schedule of health forums, classes, and screenings. SVHC is a community-based, not-for-profit charitable organization that exists solely for the benefit of the communities it serves.
