It's True! The State of Vermont wants to tax hospitals $16 million to prop up the 2009 state budget.

For Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, that will mean a loss of $1.2 million. When hospital budgets are as tight as they are nowadays, that can only mean three things: higher health care costs, fewer services, or job cuts.
