March 08, 2016

BENNINGTON, VT—March 10, 2016— Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, with its agency Jennings, have received a 2015 Telly Award for its Partnership is Powerful Medicine campaign video featuring cancer patient John Kasper.

In the video, John, an auto detailer in Bennington, shares his emotional story about battling cancer with SVMC’s team. The video was part of a series of patient videos, all of which can be viewed at svhealthcare.org/stories.

“We are pleased to win this award and grateful to the team of doctors and nurses at the Cancer Center for the inspirational work they do every day,” said Ray Smith, SVHC’s director of marketing and communications. “And we are grateful for John and his willingness to share his deeply moving story. He is the real winner here. It’s an honor to have been able to capture the essence of his experience and to communicate SVHC’s commitment to patient-centered care.”

The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs; video and film productions; and online commercials, video, and films. The awards attract 12,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.

A panel of more than 500 judges, each an accomplished industry professionals and past winner of a Silver Telly, judged the competition. Entries do not compete against each other; rather entries are judged against a high standard of merit. Less than 10 percent of entries are chosen as winners of the silver Telly, and approximately 25 percent of entries are chosen as winners of the bronze Telly.

“The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video,” said Linda Day, Executive Director of the Telly Awards. “Southwestern Vermont Health Care’s accomplishment illustrates their creativity, skill, and dedication to their craft and serves as a testament to great film and video production.”
