BENNINGTON, VT—December 22, 2015—SVMC Pownal Campus, a new family medicine practice serving patients in Southwestern Vermont and the Northern Berkshires, welcomes Barbara Raskin, MD, beginning December 7.
Dr. Raskin has been a member of the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) staff since 1985. Raskin will join Robin Tarnas, MD, and Michael Welther, MD, whose appointment to the SVMC Pownal Campus team were announced earlier this year.
“Dr. Raskin’s experience in family medicine will be an asset to the new SVMC Pownal Campus. She and her colleagues will help grow the practice, serving as mentors to attract new physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants to our community,” said Trey Dobson, MD, the medical director of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Putnam Medical Group and SVMC’s chief medical officer.
Raskin received her undergraduate education at the University of Michigan and Michigan State University and her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in family medicine at Oakwood Hospital in Michigan and is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
“I enjoy family medicine for the interactions and relationships it affords with patients and colleagues. I get to treat the whole patient and, often, whole families,” Raskin said. “I am pleased to join Michael and Robin at the SVMC Pownal Campus, which will allow me to continue working with families I have treated for 30 years while meeting new patients.”
SVMC Pownal Campus, which opened October 19, is located less than one mile north of the Vermont-Massachusetts border. The 5,000-square-foot medical practice includes 10 exam rooms and offers X-ray and lab testing. Providers have access to electronic medical records that integrate directly with SVMC. In addition, the space offers many features designed for patient comfort, including a covered drop-off entrance, a comfortable waiting area, and architecture that allows for natural light.
Both the practice and Dr. Raskin are accepting new patients. For information about becoming a patient at the new SVMC Pownal Campus, call 802-681-2780 or visit the Patient Portal at www.myhealth.svhealthcare.org.
