BENNINGTON—July 15, 2015—Community members are invited to submit photos of healthy living for Southwestern Vermont Health Care’s (SVHC) photo contest. The aim is to celebrate the healthy choices and to encourage healthy behaviors.
“Our health is affected by the things we do every day. We want to inspire our community members to be active and to make healthy choices,” said James Trimarchi, PhD, SVHC director of planning. “Community engagement like this is a part of our mission to provide exceptional health care and comfort to the people we serve.”
Participants should photograph people doing healthy things. Examples of healthy behaviors include children wearing bike helmets as they bike down a well-known Pownal Road, a local family raking beautiful fall leaves, youth hiking local trails, someone harvesting colorful vegetables, or people sharing a tender hug.
Entrants can submit photos for consideration electronically at svhealthcare.org through September 7th.
Entries will be judged by a panel based on creativity, photographic quality, genuineness, connection to local community, and relation to healthy behaviors. Preference will be given to photos with a connection to the local area, including Southwestern Vermont, Western New York, and Northern Massachusetts.
Winners from two categories, Youth (18 years and younger) and Adult (19 years and older), will be honored. The top prize is $300. Photographs will be featured at SVHC’s new primary care facility in Pownal scheduled to open this fall.
