Avoiding Stress Eating

Right now, this is a stressful time for many of us.  With all of this stress comes the task of finding a way to deal with this stress.  Many people seek food in a time like this.  Unfortunately, food makes us feel good only for a little while.  After overeating, the stress is still there, and nothing has been solved.

A suggestion to deal with this stress without adding inches on your waist is to replace the unhealthy behavior with a healthy one.  It's difficult to think of something else to do when you have always turned to food to deal with stress.

Some ideas for dealing with stress without overeating could be:  go for a walk, play with the dog, take a bubblebath, read a book, do some gardening, write in a journal, listen to music, watch a movie, or go for a hike.

These are only a few ideas that I have.  If you tend to overeat when you are stressed out, start by writing your own list.  Then you can refer to that list when you find yourself reaching into the refrigerator.

It's not easy to change behaviors, so start with one thing at a time.
