Tips for Shoveling Snow
I guess it’s about time for some snow shoveling tips. First – buy a snow thrower. Sooner or later, no matter how careful you are, you will hurt yourself shoveling snow. Second – if a snow thrower is not in the cards, try having the neighbor kid do it for you. Finally, if you absolutely have to do your own shoveling, keep this in mind:
- Use an ergonomically designed shovel which will encourage good mechanics.
- Lift with your legs, not your back – Again, with your legs not your back!!
- Take your time! Shoveling snow can be very strenuous, especially if you are not in good shape. It’s a good idea to speak to your doctor, if you have any doubts as to your ability to shovel.
- If possible, try pushing the snow instead of picking it up.
- Dress in layers – you can remove them as you get warm.
- Pace yourself and do a little at a time – you don’t have to do it all at once.
