Preventing Falls

Fall prevention has become a very big deal. Here at SVMC we spend a lot of time and energy in the inpatient and outpatient therapy departments and in conjunction with other disciplines to decrease the incidence of falls. For some more information on what can be done, the CDC site has put together a collection of interventions - http://www.cdc.gov/ncipc/preventingfalls/CDCCompendium_030508.pdf

It gets a little technical, but it can give you a good idea of various interventions, from exercise programs to environmental modifications which have been shown to reduce the incidence of falls.
